On women’s rights: between violence and exploitation

Padova,11th-12th November, 2019

Gender-based violence perpetrated by males against women, women’s vulnerability, and women’s exploitation: these are inextricably linked phenomena. Structural violence and exploitation are gender-related phenomena. Migrations exacerbate but also put on the spotlight such worldwide trends.

An international conference is organised by the University of Padova - the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies and the Human Rights Centre -, in the framework of the project “Migrant Women at the Margin: Addressing Vulnerabilities in Intersectionality between Violence and Exploitation/Mwm”, funded by the CaRiPaRo Foundation (Padova/Visiting Programme 2018), and with the support of the University of Wrocław, open to the contribution of scholars and practitioners. Speakers include prominent researchers and officials of international bodies, who will explore the interconnected issues of gender-based violence, intersectional discriminations, State accountability for structural violations of women’s human rights, including in the framework of global migrations. The Conference will be held in Padova on November 11-12, 2019; scholars and practitioners wishing to present their research papers in the three panels hosted during the conference may submit their abstracts by September 30th; selected presenters will be notified by October 10th.
